Although classed in amongst the ‘other sports’ their website, the BBC is putting together some interesting pieces in the run up to the Olympics. We’ve picked a couple of items we thought you might enjoy.
Day in the life of Olympic sailors

More video from the Scottish Skiff Grand Prix
As promised, we were at the recent Skiff Grand Prix, Kielder Water Sailing Club. Great action on the water with a talented set of skills on show. We’ve been having a look through some of the footage as we thought you might want to relive the action…
First up we have a racer who takes a bit to get going but, once he catches the wind, almost leaves our camera (and motorboat) behind!
More to follow
With the sailing season getting serious we are calling all budding videographers and photographers to send us their footage and pics. With video analysis playing a big part in the sport (and providing you with a chance to show off your skills) we are on the hunt for your films and images. We will get these up on the blog so the Scottish Sailing community can all appreciate your efforts.
Either post the video/link directly on the blog or email to stephen@scottishsailing.com. Whether you’ve won awards, submitted an entry to the Oscars or not really sure which end of the camera to point at the water, all demos gratefully received.
Our boat brokerage page on ScottishSailing.com has been going from strength to strength, we’ve just added a couple more boats and many more have been selling really well. There’s now a great range of Lasers (including a few tasty looking SB3s) joining a selection of Solos, Stratos’s and even a 29er.
For more information on any of the boats or to add your boat on this service please just contact the team.
We like to let our Blog readers know about what we’re up to as soon as possible. We have just added the excellent Queensport Hotshirt to our range from the Australian company.
Made from a revolutionary Polypropolene Fibre this is the perfect lightweight top for sailing in Cold Climates (i.e. across the UK).
The unique film helps prevent the evaporative cooling effect and has the ability to be able to transport moisture away from the body keeping your skin dryer and warmer. Have a look here.
After teaming up with the good people of Ronstan (mainly Ron and Stan) we can now bring you a whole heap of top quality products from the Australian sailing company. Including (take a deep breath) Fairlead Bushes, C, V & T Cleats with accessories, Drain plugs, Fairleads, Inspection Hatches, Ratchet Orbit Blocks, Tiller Extensions & Accessories, Ball Bearing Blocks, High Load Blocks and Swivel Cleat Bases.
Enjoy…
